suddenly ponies
pinkie pie- white. bottom heavy,fairly tall, TONS of hair. just jolly and bouncy and cute.
rainbow dash- african american. short, sleek, aerodynamic. wants to be a pilot, but for now kicks ass on rollerblades. her hair is a mohawk that emulates her mane
applejack- white. ‘sturdy’ is what I was going for, not sure if I succeeded. farmer’s tan and tons of freckles.
twilight sparkle- indian. scrawny, angular, petite. super symmetrical, has a strong, somewhat masculine jawline.
fluttershy- white, no-op mtf. moved to ponyville to get a new start for herself. found rainbow dash along the way, who is the only one who knows she’s mtf. knows her friends won’t care but it’s still hard telling people. very tall, awkward, wears ill-fitting jumpers and oversized skirts.
rarity- asian, short, plus-sized. big inspiration for her was miss piggy. got sick of not being able to find clothes her size so she started her own fashion line of high end clothes for plus sized ladies.

I love this artist because she values diversity!! (and because she can ART pretty damn good, too!)
The only one I’m not too fond about is Twilight Sparkle here. I never thought of her as Indian…..but I do dig the darker skin tone because it goes well with her hair for some reason xD I dunno. She wouldn’t be white, but I’m not sure what race she’d be in my head xD

Some character ideas. I drew the orca-horse guy at a three hour class the other day, and then I drew the shark guys while listening to an hour long interview with the MC Bat Commander.
The sharks didn’t scan very well, you can’t really tell that they have light blue ring patters on them… But it’s hard to tell in the original picture too, it didn’t turn out quite like I wanted. It’s a really early design, hence the weird matching blue hat and shorts that he’s wearing, and the relatively no shading. The orca guy is more developed, I think, and I’m a lot happier with the design. I feel like it’s structurally different than my other designs, and I think that’s a good thing.
AAAAAHHH your stuff is so cute!! I love the colours and bold outlining, and most of all the adorable poses and looseness that I only wish I could incorporate into my art!!
